Here Comes Christmas Vacation Week!

In just a few days the mountain will come alive with our guests and events for Christmas Vacation Week.  We have tons in store with something for everyone to enjoy.  The mountain has been coming together nicely as we're currently skiing on 20 trails and about 80 acres of skiable terrain.  We have been blowing snow at every oppurtunity and are looking to have 75% of our terrain and 114 skiable acres by the middle of vacation week.  For the condition and grooming report, you can find it here:

We're looking to get the Otherside up and running and the Darkside Park is also seeing the installation of some elements today and is scheduled to open up tomorrow.  Visit our multimedia page to check out the latest photos and videos at

Now that we've told you about the mountain let's get into what we have going on for you.  Cranmore will have skiing on Christmas Eve and Day from 9am to 4pm.  Vacation week hours are 8:30am to 4pm.  All week long Zip's Pub will be offering apres ski entertainment with some of the valley's favorite musicians!  Be sure to come and check out the free, live enterntainment.

For some on the slopes action, shredders can check out the first park event of the year on December 26th.  The park crew has been working hard all day to get the Darkside ready for you.  Skiers and riders are both welcome so come on out and show us your fresh tricks for the new year!  Remember to look at for all things park at Cranmore.

Not forgetting about you families in the least.  We will be hosting our first Cranapalooza of the season.  This fairy tale themed party is sponsored by Story Land.  The event will feature appearances from the popular theme park’s Cinderella, Humpty Dumpty and Scarecrow, joined by Cranmore’s own C-More the Penguin.  Kids can cook s’mores around the fire in Schneider Square, get their faces painted and receive a balloon sculpture from Bobo-T-Clown!
On Dec. 31st, Cranmore will offer families the best New Year’s Eve option in the region with a special circus-themed Cranapalooza. Ring in 2011 with children’s entertainer Marcus Gale.  Families can then rock out together with favorite local musicians, Dennis and Davey.  A special early evening fireworks display is offered at 7:30pm so even the youngest family members can stay up to enjoy the sights. Kids can also enjoy s’mores, face painting and carnival games!

We will be operating the tubing park and mountain coaster for special holiday extended hours from 9am-9pm each day from Sunday, December 26th to Saturday, January 1st.  They will also operate 8:30am to 4pm on Christmas Day and 9am to 4pm January 2nd.  A special Super Slider Ticket is offered on New Year’s Eve (and all Cranapalooza evenings) for only $59 for all ages.  It offers 3 mountain coaster rides, night skiing and 2 hours of tubing (skiing is valid from 2-8pm; and tubing and coaster is valid from 5-9pm). Imagine sliding down the mountain at night under the fireworks – that’s New Year’s Eve, Cranmore style! Other combo tickets are available at special savings and are available for sale online at

Winter is Upon Us!

Our second weekend open was even better than the first!  We were once again able to open top to bottom skiing with five trails and two lifts.  The conditions were great thanks to our hardworking grooming and snowmaking staffs who didn't even flinch when rain decided to pay us a visit last week.  They went into overdrive preparing the mountain for the weekend.  Natural snow decided to fall from the skies for a bit Friday night into Saturday morning where we saw a nice coating of snow on top of the freshly groomed corduroy.  This allowed us to ski on packed powder and machine groomed surfaces that stayed in great shape throughout the weekend.  The Lucky Loop Park was also open for the first time with a couple jibs set up for early season shredding.  Be sure to check out our video snow report from December 5th at the Cranmore Multimedia Page that covers everything that went on here at the mountain.  To keep an eye on the latest conditions at Cranmore take a look at our Snow and Grooming Report.

Cranmore had more than just skiing and riding this weekend at the mountain.  Our tubing park had its grand opening and saw its first action of the season with the new carpet lift in operation and three lanes of tubing fun.  People were having such a good time they were hustling back up the carpet lift to get in as many runs as they could.  We also had the Settler's Green tubing event in town on Saturday which turned out to be a great time for the children.  You can find a video of the fun at the Cranmore Multimedia Page that took place at Settler's Green.  The Mountain Coaster was in action again this weekend and our guests seemed to be greatly enjoying the ride.  We appreciate the feedback we hear through the trees of all the yelling and screaming that most likely signifies a good time.  It was quite a sight looking from the base lodge at the New South Quad bringing skiers and riders up the mountain in the foreground, people blasting down the coaster track, and clusters of tubers bombing down the park in the background.  Servicing those guests was the Artist Fall's Lodge where you can purchase your tubing and coaster tickets, get in the gym, or take part in one of our many fitness programs.  Inside the lodge is the New Artist Fall's Deli that provided sandwiches, pizzas, beer, and other refreshments to those looking for some food or those fatigued by on-mountain activities.  Everyone was surely taken care of!

With another great weekend in the books the only thing we can do now is look ahead to the next. The forecast looks excellent for snowmaking with temperatures staying below freezing for the remainder of the week and chances of snow for the weekend. We'll be blowing snow at every oppurtunity we have as we're looking to open new terrain for the coming weekend.  Our projections are to have two runs from the summit, and two to three runs from the South Quad with that being weather dependent.  Stay tuned for more details later in the week at Cranmore.  We will still have early season pricing with ticket rates of $45 for adults ages 19 and up, $35 for teens, and $19 for youths and seniors.  Come join us when we reopen mountain operations, which includes top to bottom skiing, mountain coaster, and tubing, on Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th from 9am to 4pm.  We'll see you out there!

The groomers are taking a break while we let the snow pile up!

Thanks to the park staff for opening up Lucky Loop Park for this past weekend's jibbing!

Settler's Green Tubing - The children were loving it!

Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed the mountain!
We look forward to seeing you when we reopen on Saturday, December 11th!
